A brilliant and enterprising Redditor, curious_mormon, has spent a lot of time putting together a list of "smoking guns," things that prove incontrovertibly that the LDS church is not true, and about which no satisfying official or apologetic explanations have ever been given.

Here's a summary of the top 10:
1. The Book of Abraham facsimilies are translated incorrectly. (analysis)
2. The Book of Mormon is filled with Anachronisms. (analysis)
3. The Book of Mormon contains transcription errors from the King James Version of the Bible and other translation errors.
4. An LDS prophet has denied receiving revelation or being a special witness while under oath before congress.
5. LDS prophets have given false prophecies.
6. LDS Apostles and prophets have been taken in, defended, and provided apologetics for frauds and hoaxes.
7. LDS Prophets have denounced or revoked their position on scientific theories that are now (dis)proven, or embarrassing doctrine that is no longer culturally acceptable.
8. Joseph Smith secretly, and illegally practiced polygamy with married women, young teenagers, and servants in his house despite claims and revelation to the contrary.
9. All three witnesses to the Golden Plates have denied physically seeing them. The eight are all related or were part of the production of the Book of Mormon.
10. The doctrine, canon, and rhetoric is filled with contradictions and inconsistencies.
Again, to reiterate, no satisfying defense of any of these points has ever been given. Some attempts have been made to explain some of the discrepancies, but these attempts fall short. In the next little while, I'm going to tackle each of these points, summarize the argument, provide a compilation of apologetic explanations, and then demonstrate why these explanations don't actually resolve the issue.
